Fenner Conveyors Enhances In-House Rubber Extrusion Capabilities
Fenner Conveyors strengthens Australian-Made conveyor belt product offering with new rubber extruder line.
In July 2023, Fenner Conveyors announced the commissioning of a rubber extrusion line at its Dandenong facility was complete. Following rubber supply challenges faced in Australia during 2022, Fenner Conveyors decided to invest in in-house manufacturing capabilities.
“The extruder is a dedicated resource for splice kit materials, which will support us to improve our service delivery in this space,” says Beau Weiss, Belle Banne Conveyors Manager – VIC.
“It has enabled us to offer Australian mining customers supply chain security and reduced lead times for splice kit materials.”
Dandenong already operates with extensive rubber lining capabilities, and is Fenner Conveyors' dedicated location for the preparation of Fenner Dunlop Conveyor Belting splice kits. Now also housing the rubber extrusion line, Dandenong can support the Fenner Conveyors service centres nationally as the dedicated location for conveyor belt splice kit manufacture and supply.
With production and packaging done from the one facility, Fenner Conveyors can provide customers with end-to-end supply chain security for conveyor belt splice kits and compound-related products. By removing freight and production costs, the extrusion line also enables Fenner Conveyors to reduce CO2 emissions per tonne of rubber produced, supporting its Group commitment of reaching net-zero by 2050.
The new operation holds a constant supply of Fenner Dunlop Conveyor Belting's most utilised compounds in the heavy-duty mining market, such as UltraTuff (abrasion resistance), ArmorShield (cut & gouge resistance) and PowerSaver (low-rolling resistance).
